Spring is well under way here at Tinicum CSA! The greenhouse is filled with baby lettuce, spinach, kale, chard, bok choy, cabbage, broccoli, napa cabbage, radicchio, fennel, scallions, eggplant, tomatoes, peppers, and more. Within the week we’ll be transplanting thousands of seedlings in the field and direct seeding radishes & greens. In addition to the vegetables, we’ve started seeding flowers for our Pick-You-Own Flower Patch. We are so excited about the 2024 season and what it has in store for the Tinicum CSA community.
In particular, I am thinking about how the farm provides space for meeting up with friends and family. Lots of people join the CSA because their sibling, parent, or neighbor joined in the past and they want in on all the fresh produce too. Also, on so many occasions at CSA Pickups, I find out that folks who know each other discover that they are both CSA Members. In this way I see the community coming together through a meaningful connection on the farm.
Of course, I’m personally excited to see Althea enjoy the farm this year now that she is a walking, talking toddler. It’s going to be fun to watch her wander around the flower patch while butterflies and bees flutter around.
